One of my best friends growing up in Akron recently boomeranged back home to Ward 8 during the pandemic, and is doing amazing things for businesses in our city. After more than a decade in New York City radio, then in the music industry, then in brand merchandising and marketing, he is helping Akron small businesses thrive.

One of his ventures launches next month. In partnership with Ward 1 small business, leaf, West Akron will have a new open-air market to enjoy this summer! On July 7th and 21st, then again August 11th and 25th, the leaf Fresh Market (Facebook | Instagram) will feature 30+ local brands and vendors including fresh flowers, artisans, farm fresh produce, product sampling, craft demonstrations, live music, and more. The market will open at 11am each day, and close at 4pm. The vacant lots directly next to leaf will be activated through this new venture, so make your way to 449 W. Market Street. Parking will be available in various locations around the site, in partnership with area property owners.

As a West Hill boy at heart, I'm thrilled to see such an amenity for this neighborhood. Please consider stopping by this summer in support of local Akron business.
