It feels like we’ve had a long Winter, and actually it was just more like a normal Winter in Northeast Ohio, with a fair amount of snow and extremely cold weather. I want to thank the Public Service Department on the excellent job they did in keeping our city streets plowed, salted and safe. The long hours they put in helps keep us moving and our city running.
As the weather changes, we can start seeing some work and improvement in our parks and neighborhoods. We added a new Swing Set at Karona Park in Parkway Estates, through funding I moved from Neighborhood Partnership Grant that we almost lost last September. I’m sure you’ll see more improvements throughout the city in the next few months. I am concerned with federal budget cuts that may affect projects with federal funding in Akron and other cities. We have items budgeted that may not materialize, but we are continuing to operate and move forward until we hear more.
I’ve also been walking Ward 8 neighborhoods, talking with folks to hear what they want in need from their councilman and city council. Hearing some good ideas and most folks are pretty happy with city services. This is the best way for me to learn what your concerns are and how I can help.. I will say I want to continue to be your councilman and we’ll be on the Primary Ballot May 6 to do so. I hope you will support me to continue working for you at City Hall.
