I don’t know about you, but I have more than one drawer in my house full of chargers, wires, cables, and adapters from old phones, and other outdated electronic devices that I need to toss. The PVC compounds in these chords can take up to 30 years or more to degrade in landfills. Old cellphones and computers contain mercury, cadmium and arsenic that can leech into soil and groundwater, making it unsafe for the environment and all of us. So how we dispose of these things safely? It’s easy for Ward 8 residents.
You can take all of these items down to Summit e-Waste Recycle Bin at Happy Tails Thrift Shop in the Merriman Valley and they will be recycled safely and not go to landfills. Better yet, Summit e-Waste Recycling Solutions will donate 5 cents per pound to the Humane Society of Summit County!
Happy Tails Thrift Shop is at 1770 Merriman Rd., and here’s all that you can drop off in the bin: Desktop computers, laptops, tablets, ( make sure to wipe hard drives) cell phones, modems, routers, DVD players, VCR’s, Stereos, game counsels, cables, wires, adapters, ink & toner cartridges, flat screen computer monitors & batteries.
