With the sudden spring-llike weather we’ve had, I think about enjoying our the amazing parks in and around Ward 8. I can’t think of a better way then to ride a bike on the Towparth in the Merriman Valley. Blimp City Bike & Hike is an Akron, Family owned business in the Valley, and it’s the place to start if you want any type of bicycle. Andy Bixenstine and his stepfather started the business back in 2009 just across the street, and moved to their present location in 2016 at 1675 Merriman Road. You probably remember it as the old First Merit Bank on the north side of Merriman Road. Andy likes to consider Blimp City a “Cycling General Store”, as they sell, repair and rent both regular and EBikes.
Andy says that five out of six sales are now E bikes, and because they were early advocates of the EBikes, they’re able to carry great brands like Aventon, Bianchi, Magnum, Kona and more. At peak summer season, Andy employs about six people full and part time, and he and his staff will help you find the right bicycle for your individual needs. You can even rent both regular or E-bikes by the hour to ride on the Towpath.
Stop down for all your biking needs or take a spin on a new bike. Blimp City Bike. & Hike is open Tuesday-Saturday 10-6, and Sundays 12-5.
