As the year ends, Akron’s Planning Department and City Council began the process of designing and approving the $367 Million Capital Budget for 2025. Capital Budget items include; transportation, parks and recreation, public facilities, water/sewer, housing, and community services, economic development, and other miscellaneous projects expenditures. Typically this is started by the planning department and through hearings in City Council, is modified and approved early in the new year.
This year we are looking to get your input and want to know what areas are important to you. At Wednesday’s ward meeting, planning staff will give an in depth presentation on the budget, and more importantly we want to include your voice to direct where city tax dollars are spent.
I know one of the biggest concerns in ward 8 is speeding in neighborhoods, so here’s your chance to tell the administration that this is a priority. Maybe it’s parks, street paving, sidewalks, etc., let’s make your voice be heard. Other council members have told me this session has been very well received by their residents and I hope we have a packed house this Wednesday evening to represent Ward 8!
